Introducing a NEW CLASS of TANDEM RIDES.
The PANTHERS Florida Tandem Rally 2017 will offer rides on Friday, Saturday and Sunday that are a little different from the rallies in the past years. We know that there are a number teams who have just started riding a tandem; and are unfamiliar with what to expect when attending a tandem rally. In the past, you may have hesitated to attend a tandem rally because of a recent accident that has limited your fitness level or because you may just lack the ability to ride a 35 mile route. These experiences can be frustrating and leave you riding alone. You do not have to be a competitive cyclist to enjoy the benefits of group rides. Utilized correctly, regular group sessions can motivate you, improve your fitness and make any ride more enjoyable. Maybe all of your rides have been through your neighborhood and now you would like to experience new routes and country roads that you have not ridden before. All of these new experiences are available this year as we introduce new tandem teams to the benefits of attending a tandem rally.

In order to help you to get started, this year we will offer ‘no-drop’ rides. This means that no rider is left behind and you can count on an experienced tandem team to stay with you…if you are unable to maintain the groups pace or you need some help to repair a flat.

To help you get started, we will have a dedicated and experienced tandem team that will introduce you to tandem riding and offer hints on group riding etiquette. That team will be Jack and Pat Deacon of The Villages. They have many miles under their wheels as a team; and over their many years of riding, have helped organize and ridden most of the popular rallies in the southeast and toured through many states across the nation. This year they have chosen routes of 20-25 miles over roads that require minimum climbing and with very low traffic. A convenient riding pace will be chosen so that all who are riding are able to maintain voice contact for any mechanical or medical situations that may arise. If you have been hesitant about attending your first tandem rally, this year’s FTR 2017 will be a great time to learn from an experience tandem team.
